ACH transfers: transparent tiered fees

Updated

At Altery, we believe in simple, transparent pricing. That’s why we’ve introduced tiered fees for ACH transfers in USD. Whether you’re sending a small amount or moving a larger balance, you’ll always know exactly what you’ll pay.

⚠️ Note: ACH transfers are currently only available to UK residents and UK-registered companies.

How it works

  • $0 – $100: 1% fee, with a minimum of $1

  • $100.01 – $1,000: 0.25% fee

  • $1,000.01 – $10,000: 0.20% fee

  • $10,000.01 – $25,000: 0.20% fee

  • $25,000.01+: 0.18% fee

The way the fee is calculated depends on whether you enter the amount you want to send, or the amount you want the recipient to receive.

If you enter the amount the recipient should receive:

The fee is calculated as a percentage of that amount, then added on top.

Example: You want the recipient to receive $5,000. The fee is 0.20% of $5,000, which is $10. In total, $5,010 is debited from your account, $5,000 goes to the recipient and $10 is the fee.

If you enter the amount you want to send:

The fee is calculated so it comes out of that amount, rather than being added on top.

Example: You send $5,000. The fee works out to $9.98, and the recipient receives $4,990.02

The same fee tiers apply no matter which wallet you use. If you send from your EUR or GBP wallet, the fee will be taken in that currency using the same percentages.

Why tiered fees?

  • Fairness for everyone: Smaller transfers stay affordable, while larger transfers get discounted rates.

  • No surprises: Fees are calculated upfront, with clear minimums where they apply.

  • Scalable with your needs: As your transfer amounts grow, your effective percentage goes down.

Benefits of ACH transfers

  • Cost-effective: Especially for domestic USD payments.

  • Reliable and secure: Settles directly between banks.

  • Flexible: Perfect for both personal and business transfers.

Final note

ACH is one of the most affordable ways to move money in USD. With our transparent tiered structure, you always know what you’re paying — and the more you send, the less you pay in percentage terms.
