How can I make a bank transfer?

Updated

There are various options for sending money to bank accounts, depending on currencies and recipient bank availability. Before we delve into the details, here are a few key points to familiarise yourself with:

  • SEPA transfers are available for EUR payments within the SEPA zone.
  • Faster Payments work for GBP transfers within the UK.
  • SWIFT transfers can be sent in EUR, USD, and GBP across the world*
  • Local payments can be sent in local currencies that we support at the moment

*Eligibility criteria and Terms & Conditions apply. If you would like to confirm your eligibility to make SWIFT payments, please contact us.

To make a wire transfer to a bank account, follow these steps:

  1. Click ‘Send’, then ‘Bank transfer’.
  2. Enter the amount you'd like to transfer and in which currency.
  3. Decide whether the payment will be made inside or outside your chosen region, which will determine the transaction’s route:

Region Payment Route
Inside Europe (EUR) SEPA
Outside Europe (EUR) SWIFT
Inside UK (GBP) Faster Payments
Outside UK (GBP) SWIFT
International (EUR, GBP, USD) SWIFT
In local currency (INR, IDR, TRY, COP, MXN, PHP, NGN, BRL, AED) Local

  1. Click ‘Next’ to proceed. Specify whether the recipient is an individual or a company. The required information will depend on the payment's location and the recipient's status. You'll need the recipient's name (individual or company) and bank account details (IBAN, SWIFT, BIC). Complete this step by clicking ‘Next’.
  2. Review the transaction details and briefly describe the payment’s purpose. Click ‘Send’ if everything is in order. If you need to make changes, choose ‘Back’.
  3. Confirm the action on your trusted device and click ‘Pay’. The payment may take a few minutes to process. If you don’t receive confirmation, please contact us.

Once you confirm your payment, it will be processed within the next 24 hours (business days only). After the bank processes the payment, we’ll send you a confirmation email.

Payments usually take up to 5 business days from our system to be credited to the beneficiary account. If it takes longer than 5 business days and the payment hasn’t been received, please contact our customer support team.

Note: we pay out via SWIFT when you send USD to countries outside the US, GBP to countries outside the UK, or EUR to banks that are not part of SEPA and countries outside of SEPA.

Also, note that we usually send bank transfers on Shared (SHA) terms*. This means you'll pay the transaction processing fee, and the recipient will cover charges from their payment service provider. Depending on the payment route defined by the banking provider, intermediary banks may charge additional fees. However, it's worth noting that there are no intermediary banks in the payment routes of SEPA and Faster Payments systems.

*For business accounts, there's a fee selector, where you can apply our fees instead of SHA. For more information, please visit the following section of our Help Centre: Business account
