When you use Altery, a few different documents work together to set out how our services work, what you can expect from us, and what we expect from you. This article walks through each one, so you know what it covers and when it applies.
Which Altery are you with?
Altery operates through two separate regulated entities, and which one applies to you depends on where you're based:
- Altery Ltd — authorised by the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) as an Electronic Money Institution (Firm Reference Number 901037).
- Altery EU Ltd — authorised by the Central Bank of Cyprus as an Electronic Money Institution under registration number 115.1.3.61, currently in early access for a limited group of users.
Your account confirmation and in-app details will tell you which entity you're a customer of. That's the entity named in the agreements below.
Terms and Conditions
This is the core agreement between you and Altery. It covers things like:
- Opening and closing your Altery Account
- How payments in and out of your account work, including timing and reversals
- Currency conversion and exchange rates
- Fees and how they're charged
- Your responsibilities (keeping your details accurate, not using the account for prohibited activities)
- When we might suspend, restrict, or close an account
- How your funds are safeguarded
- Your data and privacy rights
- How to raise a complaint
Which version applies depends on your legal entity:
Card Terms & Conditions
If you have an Altery Card (physical or virtual), these terms apply specifically to using it. They cover:
- Ordering, activating, and using your Card for purchases, ATM withdrawals, and digital wallets
- Spending limits and how your Card links to your Altery Account balance
- What happens if a transaction is unauthorised or goes wrong, and how disputes with merchants are handled
- Fees specific to the Card
- Blocking, cancelling, or replacing a Card
Which version applies depends on your legal entity:
Cards are currently only available to Altery Ltd (UK) customers. They aren't yet available to Altery EU Ltd customers, so this agreement doesn't apply if that's your entity — we'll update this article once that changes.
Bug Hunting Terms & Conditions
These terms apply only if you choose to take part in Altery's Bug Hunting Program — reporting bugs or vulnerabilities you find in our platform in exchange for a reward. They cover eligibility, how to submit a report responsibly, how rewards are calculated and paid, and confidentiality requirements while a bug is being fixed. You don't need to worry about this agreement unless you're actively participating in the program.
Global policies
A few additional policies apply to everyone, regardless of which Altery entity holds your account:
- Privacy Policy — how we collect, use, and protect your personal data.
- Cookies Policy — how we use cookies and similar technologies on our website and app.
- Raise a complaint — our complaints process, including response timeframes, if something goes wrong and you want to tell us about it.
