Verifying a business account is broken down into three key stages:
- Account Operator Verification
- Incorporation Details
- Business Details
We’ll walk you through the process as it happens, but if you’d like more support, take a look at this article for a detailed explanation.
Step 1 - Account Operator
An account operator is a person authorised by the company to handle its Altery account. They’ll manage the account access credentials and are authorised to make transactions on behalf of the company. To verify an account operator, you’ll need to:
- Provide a valid form of legal identification. Please select the document’s country of issue and choose from:
- International Passport
- EU ID Card
- Then, click ‘Next’ and you’ll be prompted to take or upload a photo of the document. Please ensure the image is clear, legible and uncut, with all corners visible.
- Continue to follow the onscreen instructions and take a photo of yourself when you’re ready to do so. This is a likeness check for security purposes; the photo won’t be shared.
- Continue the process by uploading a proof of residence document. We accept the following documents containing your name and full housing address, including your city name:
Valid for at least the next 3 months:
- Driving Licence
- Residence Permit
Dated within the last 12 months:
- Rental, lease or tenancy agreements
- Government-issued certificates of residence
- Tax returns
- Council tax bills
- Document from employer (payslip or employer’s certificate for residence proof)
Dated within the last 3 months:
- Bank statements (including neo-banks, mortgage statements, and credit card statements)
- Utility bills
- Internet/cable TV/house phone line bills
Please note that we don’t accept screenshots, mobile phone bills, medical bills, purchase receipts or insurance statements. All documents should contain Latin letters only.
- Once uploaded, click ‘Next’ to proceed.
- If you’re an authorised person, but not a key controller of the company, you’ll need to confirm this by uploading a copy of a Power of Attorney document with a valid expiration date. Then, click ‘Next’ to move on to the next stage.
Step 2 - Incorporation Details
It’s time to fill out information about the company that the account will be registered to:
- Enter the company name, country of jurisdiction and registration number before clicking ‘Next’.
- Then, provide details about UBOs (natural persons) and key individuals. If the company is owned or managed by legal entities, please list their company name, country of jurisdiction, registration number and share percentage. Please ensure they agree with Altery’s Privacy Policy and that you’re able to provide consent to process their personal data.
- If the shareholder is an individual, they will also need to pass the identity and residence verification process. They can either:
- ‘Start verification now’, if the UBO(s) are ready to start immediately, they can do so within the existing session.
- ‘Start verification later’, if they need more time to pass verification, the process can be delayed by generating a link to complete it at a later stage. In this case, the account verification status will be pending until all checks are complete.
- The UBO(s) will be asked to provide their position within the company, full name and email address. Once this data is present, the UBO will be asked to complete the individual verification process as outlined in Step 1.
- Next up is uploading the following certified company documents:
- Confirmation of the company’s legal existence (e.g. Certificate of Incorporation or Memorandum And Articles Of Association)
- Identification of the company’s structure and beneficial ownership (e.g. Company Structure Illustrating Shareholding Structure, Shareholder Certificate, Register Of Shareholders, Authorised Signatory List or Register Of Directors)
- Audited financial statements
- If you don’t have audited financial statements yet (for example, if your company is a startup), select the option ‘I do not have audited financial statements’.
- Review the information and edit if necessary. If it all looks good, hit ‘Submit’ to send the verification application. Please remember that, if there are UBOs that require biometric verification, it won’t be possible to fully verify the company until this is complete.
Step 3 - Business Details
Lastly, you’ll complete a short questionnaire with some more company details and reasons towards applying for an Altery account.
- You’ll be invited to provide the following:
- Company’s legal form (choose from the drop-down menu)
- Date of incorporation
- Industry (please check our list of which industries are currently not supported)
- Trading name
- Did you change the company’s name?
- Do you issue bearer shares?
- Website address
- Then, please provide the company’s registered and trading address (if this differs from the registered address).
- After this, please indicate the account’s purpose, and your estimated monthly and annual turnover from the drop-down menu. Click ‘Next’.
- If everything looks in order, click ‘Next’ again to forward the form to our internal teams for verification.
That’s it! We’ll be in touch if there’s anything else we need and will of course keep you updated about your verification status throughout the process. Thank you for your time; we’re so excited to be working with you.
