Verifying a personal account is broken down into four key stages:
- Identity document
- Selfie
- Proof of residence
- Questionnaire
We’ll walk you through the process as it happens, but if you’d like more support, take a look at this article for a detailed explanation.
Step 1 - Identity Document
You’ll need to provide us with a valid form of legal identification. Please select the document’s country of issue and choose from the offered list.
You’ll be prompted to take or upload a photo of the document. Please ensure the image is clear, legible and uncut, with all corners visible.
Step 2 - Selfie
Continue to follow the onscreen instructions and take a photo of yourself when you’re ready to do so. This is a likeness check for security purposes; the photo won’t be shared, so don’t worry about any bad hair days.
Step 3 - Proof of Address
Nearly there! Continue the process by uploading a proof of residence document. We accept the following documents containing your name and full housing address, including your city name:
Valid for at least the next 3 months:
- Driving Licence*
- Residence Permit*
Dated within the last 12 months:
- Rental, lease or tenancy agreements
- Government-issued certificates of residence
- Tax returns
- Council tax bills
- Document from employer (payslip or employer’s certificate for residence proof)
Dated within the last 3 months:
- Bank statements (including neo-banks, mortgage statements, and credit card statements)
- Utility bills
- Internet/cable TV/house phone line bills
Please note that we don’t accept screenshots, mobile phone bills, medical bills, purchase receipts or insurance statements. All documents should contain Latin letters only.
*Keep in mind, each document can only be used once during the verification process, either as proof of identity (POI) or proof of address (POA). For example, if you’ve used your ID as proof of identity, it can’t be used again as proof of address, even if it contains your address details.
Step 4 - Questionnaire
Please answer a few quick questions about your business activities as well as your reasons towards applying for an Altery account. You’ll be asked:
- What will you use Altery for?
- How will you add money to your Altery account?
- How much money will come into your account each month?
- Where do you pay your taxes?
- Do you pay taxes in any other countries?
That’s it! We’ll be in touch if there’s anything else we need and will of course keep you updated about your verification status throughout the process. Thank you for your time; we’re so excited to be working with you.
