How can I verify a Personal Account?
Verifying a personal account is broken down into four key stages:
- Identity document
- Selfie
- Proof of address
- Questionnaire
We’ll walk you through the process as it happens, but if you’d like more support, take a look at this article for a detailed explanation.
Step 1 - Identity Document
You’ll need to provide us with a valid form of legal identification. Please select the document’s country of issue and choose from the offered list.
We accept:
- EEA passports
- EEA national ID cards
- Other valid passports
Your identity document must be valid at the time of verification. There is no minimum remaining validity period requirement.
Depending on your nationality and country of residence, you may also be asked to provide a residence permit.
You’ll be prompted to take or upload a photo of your document. Please ensure the image is clear, legible and uncut, with all corners visible.
Step 2 - Selfie
Continue to follow the onscreen instructions and complete a video selfie when you’re ready to do so. This allows us to match your face with the photo on your identity document.
Step 3 - Proof of Address
Nearly there! Continue the process by uploading a proof of address document. The document must contain your name, full residential address and city.
We accept the following documents:
- Utility bills
- Home insurance documents
- Municipal tax bills
- Income tax documents
- Government department statements
- Bank statements, except statements from neo-banks
Your proof of address document must have been issued within the last 6 months.
Please note that we don’t accept screenshots. Upload the original document file instead. Files can be up to 50 MB.
In some cases, we may also ask you to provide a residence permit or complete a government database verification (GDV) check. GDV is used together with proof of address and does not replace it.
Step 4 - Questionnaire
Please answer a few quick questions about yourself, your financial profile and your reasons for applying for an Altery EU account.
You’ll be asked:
- Where were you born?
- What is your source of funds?
- What is your tax residency country?
- What is your tax identification number?
- What is the purpose of opening an account?
- What is your anticipated monthly turnover?
- What is the size of your wealth?
- What is your source of wealth?
- What is your employment status and occupation?
- What is your position?
- What is your employer’s name?
- What is your annual income?
That’s it! We’ll be in touch if there’s anything else we need and will keep you updated about your verification status throughout the process. Thank you for your time — we’re so excited to be working with you.
