We have updated the Terms and Conditions for your Altery Account provided by Altery LTD. This page summarises what is changing. The full text is available here, and the version that applies to existing Accounts until 27/11/2026 remains available here.
What is improving
- Longer notice before we close an Account. We will give at least 90 days' written notice before terminating Services and closing an Account, instead of two months (clause 13.4).
- Longer notice of changes. We will give at least 90 days' notice of changes to these Terms and to the Fees List, instead of two months (clause 29.1).
- Fraud and scams. We have set out how to report authorised push payment fraud and confirmed that nothing in these Terms limits your rights under applicable fraud reimbursement rules (clause 18.4).
- Complaints. We have published our response times — normally 15 business days for payment services and e-money complaints, up to 35 business days in exceptional cases — and confirmed your right to refer an unresolved complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service free of charge (clauses 28.1–28.2).
- Set-off. We have confirmed that we will exercise set-off only as far as applicable law allows, and that nothing in that clause limits your statutory right to redeem available e-money (clause 21.2).
- Jurisdiction. If you are a Consumer, your mandatory legal rights to bring proceedings in another jurisdiction are unaffected (clause 34.2).
- Inactive Accounts. What we previously called dormant Accounts are now called inactive Accounts, and we have clarified how we treat them. If an Account has no Payment Services activity for six consecutive months, we may treat it as inactive and ask you for updated information before restoring full access. Any inactivity fee is now set out in the Fees List rather than in these Terms. We will tell you about it before it is first charged where required, and it will be proportionate to our reasonable costs. If your Account remains inactive, we may ask you to reactivate it, withdraw your balance or close it. We will only close it after giving you notice under clause 13. An inactivity fee or closure will not prevent you from redeeming available e-money, subject to legal, regulatory, AML, sanctions, fraud-prevention and security requirements.
What is new
- Payee verification (clause 6.8). Before certain payments, we may check whether the payee name and account details you give us match those held by the receiving provider, and show you the result. The decision to proceed remains yours. If you continue after a warning, mismatch or unavailable result, the payment may reach the wrong account and we may not be able to recover it.
- Account Application Fee (clauses 2.12–2.15). A fee may be charged to process a new application. It is disclosed before an application is submitted and applies to new applications only.
- Plans and subscriptions (clauses 2.2, 9.13 and 10). We are introducing subscription Plans for Corporate Customers. These clauses apply to Corporate Accounts opened on or after 23/09/2026. If your Corporate Account was opened before that date, we will not apply Plans, Subscription Fees or Plan-based pricing to it until we give you separate notice under clause 29. Your current pricing continues to apply until then. Plans do not apply to personal Accounts.
What this means for you
