You can use your Altery UnionPay card at a vendor that accepts UnionPay cards. However, please be aware that some platforms or services may have their own restrictions; we recommend checking with the vendor.
UnionPay cards do have some restrictions in terms of the types of merchants and transactions they can be used for. Similar to many other payment systems, UnionPay adheres to certain rules and regulations that govern the use of its cards.
Key restrictions for UnionPay cards:
- Adult Content and Services: UnionPay cards cannot be used for transactions related to adult content or services. This includes online adult entertainment, adult websites, and similar businesses.
- Gambling and Betting: UnionPay also prohibits the use of its cards for gambling and betting activities. This includes both online and offline gambling transactions, as well as sports betting or casino payments.
These restrictions are in place to ensure compliance with regulatory standards in various countries and to maintain the integrity of the UnionPay payment network.
Our card is issued in the United Kingdom. Certain services only accept cards issued in the same country in which your account is registered. As such, those services will only accept your Altery card if your account is registered in the United Kingdom.
A few examples of services with the above restrictions are:
- Spotify
- Apple ID
- PlayStation Store
If you find that your Altery card is being declined online, this restriction could be the reason. As always, if you are unsure or have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
