How do fees work for business accounts?

Updated

Below is an overview of how your Altery business account fees work, from the opening fee to the monthly service charge. You can check what fees are applicable to your Altery account at our Fees page.

Account opening fee

  • The opening fee is applied when your account is created, but it’s only deducted after the first funds arrive.

  • You’ll see the fee listed in your account as “pending” until the first incoming payment is credited.

  • The fee is charged once only, at the start of your account relationship.

Monthly service fee

  • There’s no monthly fee for the first month after your account is opened.

  • From the second month onwards, the monthly fee is applied automatically each month.

  • If your account doesn’t yet have funds when the fee is due, the charge will remain pending until your next incoming payment.

Example timeline

Event Fee status
Account opened Opening fee applied (pending)
First funds received Opening fee deducted
First month No monthly fee
Second month Monthly fee charged (or pending if no funds)
